Screenmates

The screenmates program was originally inpired by the famous sheep screenmate, used originally as a promotional program by a Japanese TV show.

This program was a proof of concept, very rudimentary with a few animations and a basic interface.

Screenmates,
Most screenmates do nothing except run around your screen and generally getting in the way. Others are hooked into a more specific function like Microsoft Agents, which act like, glorified tip-of-the-day dispensers.

The 'worm' screenmate is incomplete (the source code is forever lost :(, hard drive crash all these years ago). One of the main problems this test program addressed was the clipping of irregular shaped animating windows (unlike the original sheep screenmate). However the clipping routines of Windows is extremely inefficient. (if you run over 10 worms you would see screen artifacts drag behind the worms).

The worm animations was based on the character from the game Worms, by Team 17

Usage:
Right click to pop up menu,
Multiple worms can be created,
Topmost application, hovers over all other windows,
If they have focus they stop moving,
If you right click on them and select exit they turn into a skeleton dissolving into dust.
